Edmonton City Council continually considers reports which impact sport in Edmonton. These reports traditionally are first received by one of three standing committees (Community Services, Transportation and Public Works, and Executive Committee) of City Council. Such reports and the agenda of each committee are traditionally made public the Thursday prior to the respective committee meeting. The main purpose of the Alberta Sport Develoment Centre - Capital Region is to enhance and coordinate services available to Alberta's emerging athletes and coaches in the Capital Region.
The Canadian Athletics Coaching Centre is the lasting legacy of the 2001 World Championships in Athletics. The Centre delivers world class programs in athletics (track and field) designed to foster excellence in coaches, develop high performance athletes, and encourage participation and physical fitness in Canadian youth.
