Little Aces Committee Chairs and Members Needed

Little Aces is a community tennis project funded by Tennis Canada to introduce affordable and accessible progressive tennis programs into schools, gyms, community leagues, clubs and parks and recreation departments. With a focus on children under the age of 12, the program provides new participants to the game of tennis an opportunity to combine practice and play.

The Little Aces Committees shall consist of up to 6 volunteers each. Each committee will meet as a group 6 times annually but may be required to meet more regularly with sub-committees. The amount of time required for each position is about two hours per week. These positions require specific qualifications, however, individuals who are committed to contributing to the health of the community are the most desirable.

Volunteer at the Canadian Birkebeiner Ski Festival

The Canadian Birkebeiner, Canada's largest classic cross-country ski festival, is preparing for the next big event February 10-11, 2012. It takes approximately 625 volunteers to plan, organize and run the Birkie each year. Some volunteers work year-round on a committee, while others volunteer several hours on the weekend of the ski events. There are many different areas requiring a variety of skills and interest including marketing, logistics, sponsorship, medical, transportation, food, hosting, timers, registration, trail crew, setup and take-down crews. Volunteer at the Silver Skate Festival

The Silver Skate Festival, February 17-20, continues to grow. Festival programming will include a wide variety of free events and activities including an ice slide, family snow sculpting, figure skating demonstrations, roving performers, horse drawn sleigh rides, the Cessco Snow Sculpture Garden, Night Works in the Park, two evenings of fire sculptures and our Heritage Village with a rich tapestry of heritage performers. Sporting and recreation events will include the Edmonton Winter Triathlon, long blade skate races and the Kortebaan, a traditional Dutch long blade sprint race. The Silver Skate Festival is always looking for good people who want to contribute.
