Submit your question for the Leaders' Debate - TODAY
The Edmonton Sport Council has submitted the question: "Election promises have been made as to further investment in the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. What further investment will your party make in Alberta's other foundations and specifically the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation?" Call for Volunteers - 2010 Vancouver/Whistler Olympics
With less than two years to go, members of the public can now apply, online, to volunteer for the Games. For more information, click here.

Sport in Provincial Election 2008
Ask your candidates as to their position on increasing sport funding through the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation and updating the Alberta Sport Plan as we approach the second decade of the 21st century. City of Edmonton Salute to Excellence Awards
The Salute to Excellence Committee is currently gathering nominations to recognize and honour Edmonton’s most outstanding citizens who, through their participation in sports, have made exemplary contributions to the quality of life in Edmonton. Deadline for submission is February 22, 2008.

Sports Travel Grant
Sport travel grants assist Edmonton residents with the cost of travel to western Canadian, national or international sports championships in which they compete. For more information, click here.

Workshop - Aboriginal Coaching Manual
The Aboriginal Sport Circle will deliver an educational workshop to increase awareness of the Manual and its relevance in the Canadian Sport System. The session is scheduled for March 7 at the Ramada Inn, 11834 Kingsway, Edmonton. Contact Ted Hodgson at (780) 585-3343 for more information.

ACTIVATE 2008 National Youth Leadership Conference
ACTIVATE 2008 is Motivate Canada’s 4th Annual - National Youth Leadership Conference and all youth between the age of 16-22 are encouraged to apply! Application deadline is Feb. 22. For more information, click here.

2008 Beijing Olympic Youth Camp

The program runs from August 2 to 18, 2008 and is open to anyone aged 16 to 18 as of June 30. Deadline for applications is Feb. 27. For more information, click here.

Tax Time - remember to claim sport expenses for children!
Line 365 - Children's fitness amount: You can claim, up to $500 per child, the fees paid in 2007 that relate to the cost of registering your child, or your spouse or common-law partner's child, in a prescribed program of physical activity. The child must have been under 16 years of age at the beginning of the year. For more information, click here.

Line 214 Child Care Expenses: You or your spouse or common-law partner may have paid for someone to look after your child so one of you could earn income, go to school, or conduct research in 2007. The expenses are deductible only if, at some time in 2007, the child was under 16 or had a mental or physical impairment. For more information, click here.

Note: You may have paid an amount that would qualify to be claimed as child care expenses (line 214) and the children's fitness amount. If this is the case, you must first claim this amount as child care expenses. Any unused part can be claimed for the children's fitness amount as long as the requirements are met.

Little League Baseball Registration
Little League will be holding registration in February and March. Click here to see the various dates and locations.

Subway Coronation Triathlon - May 25

Canadian Athletic Hockey School - August 11-29
An information brochure is now available for the 2008 summer hockey school.

Volunteer - Canadian Francophone Games Edmonton 2008
The volunteer division has set a goal to recruit 500 volunteers and draw English clients to volunteer at this event. For more information, click here.
