If your child was under the age of 16 at any time during the 2016 tax year and involved in a program of physical fitness or activity longer than eight weeks, you may be eligible for the Children's Fitness Tax Credit for up to $500. This tax credit will be eliminated in 2017. For 2015, the maximum tax credit remains at $1,000.
You may also claim payments for child care expenses made for day camps and day sports schools where the primary goal of the camp is to care for children (an institution offering a sports study program is not a sports school); or to boarding schools, overnight sports schools, or camps where lodging is involved.
In either situation, the Canada Revenue Agency has the authority to determine whether any claim for a credit will be approved.
Please retain your receipts that you receive at the time of registration.
