Alberta Policies & Plans

Active Alberta

Provincially, sport is found within Active Alberta, a government policy to achieve recreation, active living and sport outcomes, through a coordinated system, involving stakeholders, non-profit organizations, other levels of government, the private sector and individuals. Additionally, Spirit of Alberta, the Alberta Cultural Policy, defines culture in a broad sense, to include not only the arts, but also heritage, sport and recreation, and the natural environment.

Alberta Sport Plan 2014 - 2024

Going the Distance: The Alberta Sport Plan 2014 - 2024 was released after an extensive consultation with Albertans and stakeholders from across the Sport spectrum. This consultation included an online survey which was open to all Albertans to complete, a Sport Forum held in Red Deer, a series of regional conversations, and public consultation on a draft plan. A complementary implementation plan will be developed under the leadership of the Alberta Sport Connection.

The next steps to implement the Plan have been published on Alberta Sport Connection's website. For more information, click here.
