I may be one of the few people who can say the pandemic has made a positive impact on my fitness journey and active lifestyle.
Despite not being able to teach my row classes at @hivefitco, due to restrictions, my intrinsic motivation to stay active only improved. Running outside with a weighted vest and designing my own at-home HIIT workouts allowed me to escape from everything happening in the world that, at times, I wasn’t ready to face. Other times, it gave me an hour or so to be in my own world and create my own euphoria through fitness.
As the world began to reopen and society started functioning a little more “normal”, I was able to return to my routine fitness classes - both teaching them and participating in them.
Although I had to take a step back from teaching row at @hivefitco due to my new vocation of teaching high school English, I continue to attend classes at @otf_sherwoodpark and get outside for activity whenever possible...regardless of the season. Ice skating, rollerblading, hiking, running, golfing, or walking my Golden Retriever, Ember - the outdoors hold so much serenity for me and is my true happy place.
Sports also hold a special place in my heart. I’ll try any sport at least once, but I grew up playing mainly volleyball and basketball. This has opened many doors for me, including coaching, and I’m excited to be one of the coaches for my school’s senior girls’ basketball team this upcoming season.
I’m excited to see what the end of 2021 will bring and remain committed to continuing to LiveActive!
