Physical activity is not just something we do sometimes, rather it is an important part of our daily lives. We believe that being active is our daily medicine. Whether it be the winter or summer, we keep active through many different activities. In the summer, we love to be outdoors and
cycle, hike, and camp in the mountains. Cycling to work is a mode of transportation that allows us to be active during the week. Once we get to work, we can take time before or after to work out in the fitness facility at our workplace. In the winter, we like to
cross-country ski, train on indoor tracks, and strength train in the gym.
When we moved from Winnipeg seven years ago, we looked to find a home close to Edmonton's River Valley and all the amazing trails. My wife, Cosette, and I made our home in the Forest Heights area not only because of its proximity to the river valley, but also to the outdoor track in Forest Heights Park. The track and trails are a great place for my wife and I to train for marathons and ride our bikes. In addition to the trails, we use Rollie Miles Athletic Field and University of Alberta's Foote Field during the warmer months, and the Butterdome and Kinsmen Sports Centre to train during the
winter months.
My wife and I are passionate about competing in marathons. I have run a total of 25 marathons and Cosette has participated in 24 marathons. Being able to participate in marathons has allowed us to travel the world. We have completed the World Marathon Majors in Boston, Chicago, New York, Berlin, London and Tokyo and this fall we are planning to travel to the sixth continent to compete in another marathon. Our passion for running marathons has taken us to Sweden, Australia,
Chile and several locations in Canada. During our travel, we get to meet interesting people from across the world.
